Wildcats on Fire: 6–0 Win Lights Up the Field

The Wildcats came out roaring this season with an outstanding 6–0 win over Concordia Moorhead on September 20th, setting the tone for what looks to be an exciting run for St. Kate’s soccer. The energy in the field that day was undeniable, an electric mix of confidence, chemistry, and pride.

“It felt good to get a good win,” said senior forward Bella Meier, who transferred to St. Kate’s last spring and has quickly made her mark on the team. “It was a great team win, and there were many good contributions from all positions on the field. There was great energy from our team, the fans, and the atmosphere. It was just an awesome experience.”

One of the standout moments of the game came early on. “I think one of my favorite goals was the first one,” Meier recalled. “I dribbled from the left side of the box, took on two defenders and took a shot. I just had a great feeling about it from the time it came off my foot. It gave us a lot of momentum for the rest of the game.”

Momentum was something the Wildcats had plenty of. According to Meier, their success came down to a deep connection and trust across the field. “As a team, we were very connected. The chemistry was on,” she said. “It seemed as though everyone had a sixth sense of where others were going to be and where the next ball was going to go.”

That bond goes beyond the scoreboard. “We’re a group of sisters,” Meier said. “Everyone has each other’s back, and everyone’s support for one another is immense. We’re motivated every day to make each other the best people and soccer players that we can be.”

The 6–0 victory also marked a milestone for the program, the 100th career win for Head Coach Jesse Campos. While the celebration included fans holding “100 Win” signs and a well-deserved Gatorade shower for the coach, Meier said the moment was about the team’s collective effort. “It’s a testament to all the hard work that all the girls before me have done,” she said. “I’m so proud of our team for getting it done for our program and our school.”

As the Wildcats look ahead, their goals are clear. “Personally, I’m just trying to take it one game at a time and be the best player I can for the team,” Meier shared. “As a team, our goals are to win the MIAC tournament and head to the NCAA Tournament.”

With a lineup full of energy, tight-knit chemistry, and a hunger for more wins, St. Kate’s soccer is proving they’re not just playing for the scoreboard; they’re playing for each other. Currently holding an impressive 11-2 overall record and 6-1 in MIAC play, the Wildcats rank third overall in the MIAC tournament, a testament to their drive and teamwork.
