An end-of-the-year reflection
By Lexi Davis
Three weeks left of school. Three. For some of us, this is the end of our first year. For others, the time has come to graduate and start a new chapter in life. As the end of the school year draws to a close, many thoughts and feelings may overwhelm you. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to pause and reflect for this last edition of the paper.
This year has been filled with adventure and excitement. As my first year at St. Kate’s, I learned the thrill of independence and the importance of time management. Some of my fondest memories are particularly with my roommate, whom I discovered at Katioke has an incredible singing voice. During the first semester, I remember attending the club fair and instantly knowing I wanted to join The Wheel. President Evan’s inauguration was also a huge event; the llamas were particularly a hit. I recall getting to vote in the election for the first time. I also became more comfortable on campus, finding my favorite study spots and watching the seasons change. Second semester was eventful as well, with some of my favorite aspects being The Wheel’s satire edition and watching my roommate and friends perform in the Dew Drop Drama Club’s “The Wolves” play. As I look back on these adventures, I realize they have helped me become a better person as the year went on. I have new memories and passions that I wouldn’t have gotten without the powerful St. Kate’s community. I cannot wait to see what the new school year teaches me.
As we conclude our second semester, I hope you, too, can find time to sit and reflect. To end our journey together, I want you to ask yourself: What significant events of the school year shaped you? How have you grown as a learner? How has your understanding of yourself and the world changed? Consider your answers before heading into the summer so you can make your next chapter just as fruitful as your school year!
