Future in Focus: Inside the Pre-PA Club’s First Big Event
By Amirah Idris
Students at St. Catherine University gathered for an inspiring and welcoming night hosted by the Pre-PA Club, bringing together aspiring healthcare professionals from across majors.
The event was open to anyone interested in the medical field, including pre-PA, nursing, and other health-focused students. What made the night stand out was the chance to hear directly from professionals already working in the field, including physician assistants, nurses, and a physical therapist. With food, drinks, and an engaging program, the event created a space that felt both informative and comfortable for students trying to figure out their next steps. Maram Belhadj (Public Health, Chemistry Minor), Public Relations manager for the Pre-PA Club, said, “I’m glad we were able to have this event. I’m very grateful everybody showed up and we were able to have a nice networking dinner.” Suad Aden (Public Health, Chemistry Minor), President of the Pre-Pa Club, added, “I think spaces like this are important because not everyone has access to these kinds of conversations. Creating that opportunity is what makes this so meaningful.”
Maria Vazquez Monroy (Public Health, Psychology Minor), the Co-Vice President, shared that “the event taught us many things about what our future holds, but it also taught us how to truly work as a team.”
Yesenia Vidalez Galindo (Public Health, Psychology Minor), Co-Vice President, said, “This event was truly a learning experience, not just for our attendees but also as a club committee.”
Beyond just being a panel, the event served as a real opportunity for networking and connection. Students were able to ask honest questions, hear personal experiences, and get advice about navigating school, careers, and the realities of working in healthcare. The conversations felt genuine and gave insight into both the challenges and rewards of these careers. For many, it made the idea of entering the medical field feel more attainable and less overwhelming.
The Pre-PA Club continues to build a strong community for students looking for direction and support. Events like this show how valuable it is to surround yourself with people who share similar goals and ambitions. Whether you are certain about becoming a PA or still exploring your options, joining the Pre PA Club can offer guidance, motivation, and connections that can shape your future. For students at St. Kate’s, it is more than just a club, it is a space to grow, learn, and start building the path toward a career in healthcare.
